Flooring careers on a crew that stays

Thiago Reis started Hardwood Kings in 2012 and works with the same crew year after year. If you install, sand, or finish floors around Kansas City and you care how the last board looks, tell us about yourself.

What the work looks like

Most of it happens in people’s houses. New hardwood going down over an old subfloor, a tired oak floor sanded back to bare wood, a staircase finished to match the landing it meets, a bathroom in porcelain tile. Some of it is commercial: long office corridors, a flooring showroom, a church sanctuary. All of it sits within about fifty miles of our base in Shawnee, on both sides of the state line.

A family is usually living in the house while we work. So the job starts with protecting their home and ends with a walkthrough of the finished floor, and when the homeowner asks a question halfway through, they get a straight answer from whoever they asked.

Thiago quotes every job himself, so everyone on the crew works to a standard he already promised the customer.

We finish with LOBA and glue down with WAKOL adhesives. The gallery shows what that standard looks like when the floor is done.

Tell us what you do

The form goes straight to the Hardwood Kings inbox. Tell us what kind of floors you have worked on, for how long, and which part of the metro you live in.

Rather talk it through? Call (913) 915-3193, Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm or Saturday 9am to 1pm.

Thiago reads these himself. If what you do lines up with the work coming up, he will call or text you.

Before you apply

Most questions come down to experience and where the work is. Call (913) 915-3193 if yours is not here.

Do I need flooring experience to apply?

Apply either way, and put your honest level on the form, including new to flooring. Thiago will tell you straight whether the schedule has room for that right now.

What happens after I send the form?

It lands in the Hardwood Kings inbox and Thiago reads it. If what you do lines up with the work coming up, he will call or text you to talk.

Where are the jobs?

Homes and businesses across the Kansas City metro, within about fifty miles of Shawnee, KS. That takes in Johnson County on the Kansas side and Jackson County in Missouri, plus the towns around them.

Can I send photos of my work or a resume?

Yes. Email them to hardwoodkingsinc@gmail.com with your name in the subject line.

Can I call about a job instead?

Yes. (913) 915-3193 reaches Thiago, Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

Looking for a floor instead of a job?
