Prep and protection
Furniture moved, vents sealed, adjacent rooms masked off. Wood acclimates on site so boards settle before they are fastened, not after.
The work itself
The crew that quotes the job does the job. Boards laid tight, sanding done in stages, finish applied in thin even coats with real cure time between them.
The walkoff
We walk the finished floor with you board by board. Anything you flag gets fixed before we call it done, and the site gets left cleaner than we found it.
The wear-layer truth nobody prints in big letters
Engineered floors live and die by wear-layer thickness. Under two millimeters, the floor can never be meaningfully refinished; it is a one-life product. At three millimeters and up you have a floor that can be sanded like solid wood, once or twice, decades apart. The price difference between those tiers is smaller than the lifespan difference, and cheap engineered flooring is how people end up replacing whole floors over one deep scratch.
Installation spec matters just as much. Most engineered warranty claims get denied over installer shortcuts: skipped moisture tests, wrong adhesive, no expansion gap. We install to the letter of the spec sheet and keep the paperwork, so your warranty stays real.

Yes. The surface you walk on is genuine hardwood veneer, the same species as solid flooring. Underneath is a cross-laminated core that makes the board more stable than solid wood in tough conditions.
Can engineered hardwood be refinished?
Depends entirely on wear layer. Two millimeters or less, realistically no. Three millimeters or more, yes, like solid wood. We only recommend refinishable tiers to people who plan to stay in their homes.
Engineered or solid, which is better?
Neither, they solve different problems. Slab, basement, wide plank, or big humidity swings favor engineered. Traditional joists above grade with a long ownership horizon favor solid. Your house usually casts the deciding vote.
Can engineered hardwood go in a basement?
Yes, it is the only real-wood option we recommend below grade, over a tested and properly prepped slab. Where moisture risk is higher, we will steer you to waterproof vinyl instead and say why.
Does engineered flooring feel different underfoot?
Glued or nailed down, it feels identical to solid. Floated installs have slightly more give and sound, which quality underlayment minimizes. We will tell you which install your slab or subfloor calls for.
