Hardwood Floor Repair

Water damage by the fridge, pet stains, squeaks, cracked boards, gaps you can lose a fork in. Repair work is where craftsmanship shows, because a good repair is one you cannot find afterward.

Fixing floors board by board

Most hardwood problems do not need a new floor. They need the right boards cut out and replaced, the cause fixed, and the repair blended so it vanishes. We keep relationships with suppliers of both new and reclaimed stock, which is how a 1955 red oak floor in Prairie Village gets a repair that matches in species, width, and even grain character.

Squeaks and soft spots get fixed from the structure up. We find the movement, fasten it properly, and only then touch the surface. Cosmetic patches over structural problems are how the same squeak comes back in six months, and we do not do them.

What the job includes

  • Diagnosis of the cause, not just the symptom
  • Individual board removal and replacement, matched to your floor
  • Squeak and soft-spot elimination at the subfloor
  • Water and pet stain assessment with honest options
  • Spot refinishing blended into the surrounding field
  • Matching stain and sheen so the repair disappears

How the job runs

The walkthrough

Thiago comes out, looks at the floor and the subfloor, measures, and talks through what you actually need. You get a straight price in writing before anything starts.

Prep and protection

Furniture moved, vents sealed, adjacent rooms masked off. Wood acclimates on site so boards settle before they are fastened, not after.

The work itself

The crew that quotes the job does the job. Boards laid tight, sanding done in stages, finish applied in thin even coats with real cure time between them.

The walkoff

We walk the finished floor with you board by board. Anything you flag gets fixed before we call it done, and the site gets left cleaner than we found it.

The honest limits of repair work

A repaired area can be made invisible when the surrounding finish is in decent shape and we can blend the sheen. On a floor that is uniformly worn out, a fresh patch will stand out like a new tooth. In those cases the right move is repair plus a full refinish, and we will show you the difference in cost so you can decide with real numbers.

If your damage came from moisture, the floor is the second thing to fix. Leaking ice maker lines, sweating slabs, or grading problems will eat the repair too. We point out what caused the damage before we invoice for fixing its results.

Why people call us instead of the big outfits

Hardwood Kings is Thiago Reis and his crew, not a call center with subcontractors. The person who looks at your floor is the person responsible for how it turns out, and the company’s whole reputation, fourteen years of it, rides on every job. We are licensed, certified, and insured, our Google rating sits at 5.0, and most new work comes from referrals and repeat customers. That is what treating clients like family earns, and it is the only marketing we have ever really trusted.

Materials we stand behind

We buy wood through ProSource Wholesale, which does two things for you: contractor pricing on brand-name flooring, and access to the full catalog instead of whatever fits in a showroom. Oak, hickory, maple, walnut, and specialty species in solid and engineered construction, in widths from classic strip to wide plank. You look at real samples in your own light before anything is ordered.

Finishes get the same care. We work with commercial-grade waterborne and oil-modified systems, matte through gloss, and we will tell you honestly how each choice ages, shows dust, and handles your household. The cheapest material on the shelf and the most expensive rarely win; the right middle is where value lives, and we will show you where that is for your project.

Where we do this work

Repair calls come from everywhere we work, from radiator scars in Kansas City, MO shirtwaists to dishwasher leaks in Lenexa kitchens to tack-strip damage after carpet pulls in Overland Park.

Our shop sits in Shawnee and the working radius runs fifty miles in every direction, which covers Johnson, Wyandotte, and Jackson counties and everything between. If you are anywhere in the KC metro and need hardwood floor repair handled by people who do it every week, you are inside the circle.

Can you match my existing floor when replacing boards?

In most cases, yes. We identify species, cut, width, and age, then source new or reclaimed stock to match. The new boards get stained and finished to blend with the field around them.

My floor squeaks badly. Is that fixable without tearing it up?

Usually. Most squeaks are fastener or subfloor movement, and we can often fix them from below or with targeted top-down fastening that gets concealed. We find the cause first, then pick the least invasive fix that will actually hold.

Is water-damaged hardwood always a loss?

No. Boards that cupped slightly often flatten as they dry and can be sanded. Boards that stayed wet, turned black, or delaminated need replacement. We tell you which you have after looking, not after invoicing.

Do you handle small jobs, like a few boards?

Yes. Small repairs are real work and we take them seriously. Being based in Shawnee means a few-board repair in Johnson County fits our schedule without a big minimum charge.

Can pet stains be fixed?

Surface-level ones sand out during spot refinishing. Deep black stains mean the urine reached the wood's core, and those boards get replaced. We give you the honest read the day we see the floor.

How do I get a price for hardwood floor repair?

Call (913) 915-3193 or send the contact form with a rough description of the rooms and what is on the floor now. Thiago comes out, looks at the actual conditions, measures, and hands you a straight price in writing, usually within a few days of your call. No pressure follows it, and the number does not mutate once work starts.
